History
The three owners of Blue Ocean Market (Jack Cox, Brian Moore, and DavidTucker) teamed up in 2004 to supply Carteret County restaurants, residents, and visitors with the freshest local seafood possible. Jack and Brian were in the seafood industry since the 1980's, but mostly shipped seafood out of North Carolina to other wholesalers in the Northeast. During that time Jack and Brian saw an opportunity for a company that could cut fish for restaurants and retail customers locally and brought David in to open Blue Ocean in 2004. David and Jack take great pride in catching a lot of the fresh fish we sell here locally.
Chef Eric Forsberg joined the team in 2008 with a focus on using his culinary experience to help retail customers with purchasing seafood and preparing their fresh catch for the table. Allowing inexperienced customers to learn and feel more comfortable about their purchase of different types of fish. We do this by describing different ways fish are caught, how the fish taste, their texture, and different ways to cook them.
